Inside Qatar’s Spectacular ‘Desert Rose’ Museum

The Al Thanis, one of the world’s wealthiest royal families, have acquired billions of dollars worth of artistic masterpieces. Anyone hoping to see those objects at the new National Museum of Qatar will be disappointed.

Instead of displaying paintings by dead foreigners on vertical walls, the museum, which opens on March 28, has covered its interior angular surfaces with films and dioramas that tell the story of the nation.
