Trump’s Unending Campaign Hits Phoenix

A tense night at the rally.

Donald Trump returned to his off-the-cuff, combative campaign style at a raucous Aug. 22 rally in Phoenix. After opening speakers lauded him for his commitment to racial harmony, the president came out swinging at his bêtes noires: CNN, the New York Times, the Washington Post and other “fake news” outlets. The crowd cheered in approval. Trump also ticked off the extremist groups he criticized in the days after the mayhem in Charlottesville, Virginia. His speech ran on for close to 75 minutes.
