It’s easy to overlook Moldova. One of Europe’s poorest countries, the former Soviet outpost has an economy that’s a fraction of the size of any European Union member. Its lifeblood is agriculture, growing crops and making wine and its own version of cognac. It was Europe’s biggest exporter of plums last year.
