Invesco Says Treasuries Appeal More Than European Bonds on Rates

Photographer: Ting Shen/BloombergTreasuries are a better investment than European bonds as the case for Federal Reserve interest-rate cuts mounts and the traditional haven status of US government debt is reestablished, according to Invesco Ltd. Senior Portfolio Manager, Alessio de Longis.
US sovereign bonds initially lagged their European peers after Trump’s ‘Liberation Day’ tariffs in April shook faith in the safety of Treasuries. But De Longis said the overweight position he’s stuck to since the start of the year has been “strongly vindicated” as weakening jobs data push the Fed toward easing more aggressively.
