US equities closed at record highs on Monday as a busy week for earnings got underway, with reports from big names such as Tesla Inc. and Alphabet Inc. on the horizon.

The S&P 500 Index finished the session up 0.1% at 6305.60, its highest close ever, after paring earlier gains. The tech-heavy Nasdaq 100 Index ended the day with a 0.5% gain, also setting a new high. With stocks hovering near records, investors’ robust appetite for risk is helping lift the Magnificent Seven, buoying Bloomberg’s gauge for the group of mega-cap tech stocks.
