India Inflation at 6-Year Low May Not Spur RBI to Cut Yet

Photographer: Abeer Khan/BloombergIndia’s inflation eased to the lowest in more than six-years last month, mainly driven by cooling food prices, although not enough reason for the central bank to cut interest rates just yet, economists said.
The consumer price index rose 2.1% in June from a year earlier, according to Statistics Ministry data released Monday. That’s slightly lower than a 2.25% increase forecast by economists in a Bloomberg survey. Inflation had slowed to 2.82% in May.
