Bessent Sees Deficit Falling Over 10 Years After Tax-Cut Bill
Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said that there are a number of different assessments of the deficit impact of Republicans’ signature tax-cut bill, and that his own expectation is it will shrink borrowing over a decade.
There’s “varying scoring” of the tax bill, Bessent said in answering questions at a Senate Finance Committee hearing Thursday. “It is my view that over the 10-year window, it will decrease.”
