US Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem urged Poles to vote for the nationalist opposition candidate in Sunday’s presidential election, wading into a tightly-contested campaign that threatens to derail efforts to rebuild the country’s democratic institutions.

Addressing an inaugural CPAC Poland gathering of conservatives on Tuesday, Noem said the victory by Karol Nawrocki of Law & Justice party would ensure Poland will continue to have US military presence and enjoy close ties with the administration of Donald Trump.
