Spain’s Grid Operator Defends Itself After Huge Power Outage

The chairwoman of Spain’s power grid operator made a staunch defense of the company’s performance and refused to take any responsibility for the historic blackout that left the country without electricity for hours on Monday.

Spain has Europe’s “best electricity network” and there was nothing wrong with how the grid operator dealt with the blackout, Redeia Corporacion SA Chairwoman Beatriz Corredor said in an interview with radio Cadena Ser on Wednesday. It was the first time Corredor spoke publicly about the incident.
