NTT Throws Hat Into AI Chip Race and Targets Drone Footage Tech

Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Corp. said it’s developed a chip that can help drones process high-resolution videos, a sign of more resources from the state-backed company going into artificial intelligence.

NTT, which spans Japan’s largest wireless and telecom networks as well as IT services heavyweight NTT Data Group Corp., said its new inference AI chip delivers low-power real-time analysis and helps drones detect individuals or objects from up to 150 meters (492 feet) above ground.
