Australia Center-Right Opposition Leads Government in New Polls
- New survey shows increasing possibility of hung parliament
- PM Albanese must hold national election on or before May 17
Australia’s opposition Liberal-National Coalition leads the Labor government in new opinion polls with an election due within three months, in the latest sign of mounting dissatisfaction with Prime Minister Anthony Albanese’s administration.
The center-right opposition parties currently lead Labor by 51% to 49% on a two-party preferred basis, according to a Newspoll survey published by The Australian newspaper Monday, with voter approval of Albanese falling to its lowest level yet.
