Photographer: Al Drago/BloombergProgressive Senator Elizabeth Warren challenged Donald Trump to set ethics guardrails to control a “massive conflict of interest” posed by Elon Musk’s unofficial role in the president-elect’s transition and incoming administration.
Musk, the world’s richest man and owner of several large companies with major contracts and regulatory issues with the federal government, was the biggest individual financial backer of Trump’s campaign. He’s taken a prominent role in the transition, joining Trump in calls with foreign leaders, traveling with him to events and heading up an initiative to run the government more efficiently.
